Chargeable weight
The weight used to price a shipment: the greater of actual and volumetric weight.
Definition
In transport and courier work, chargeable weight is the greater of a consignment's actual weight and its volumetric weight (volume converted into weight, often 1 m³ = 250 kg). It stops a bulky but light parcel being billed by weight. It is the basis of pricing in any transport system.
